1999 Explorer 14270 ‘SWISS’ : 14270

Another new arrival, a fine Rolex Explorer, model reference 14270.
This 36mm diameter stainless steel bracelet chronometer has the black 1/4 Arabic dial with ‘SWISS’ at 6 o’clock. The ‘SWISS only’ dial was fitted to the 14270 for the 1998 and 99 production with serial number prefixes U and A. The dial and hand markers used Luminova compound to replace Tritium and a precursor to the Superluminova that followed. The SWISS only dials are probably the shortest production run of the 14270 lifespan.
The watch was sold new by Bucherer in Bern on 1st February 1999. It is complete with Rolex boxes, Explorer booklet and COSC chronometer certificate (punched papers).
