1986 Submariner 168000 : 168000

A fine and rare Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner-Date, model reference 168000, the ‘Triple O’.
This transitional model was only in production for 8-9 months. This reference followed on from the 16800 and preceded the 16610. It was the first Submariner to be produced in 904L steel (replaced 316L steel) and the last to be delivered with the 3035 movement.
This 9.3m serial number was one of the earliest models. The K6 bracelet code suggests a June 1986 production. The dial is the ealier mark 1 version, semi-matt signed ‘SUBMARINER’.
Sold new by Tyme Ltd (a Watches of Switzerland store) on Old Bond St on Christmas Eve 1986. We have the correct original moon crater box with the 16800/0 sticker reference. Also resent are Submariner and Your Oyster booklets, along with the punched COSC chronometer certificate. We even have the business card from the Manager who sold the watch.
